Modernizing Security in a Historic Facility
The W's of the Story.
01
Nathan carried the historic facility project from identified deficiency through permanent modernization. He coordinated the security requirements, preservation constraints, stakeholders, and physical upgrades needed to make the building compliant. The project demonstrated patient program leadership: temporary safeguards protected the organization while the permanent solution was designed and implemented.
02
During Nathan’s first tour at SUBREADRON 36, after a security gap in a historically protected facility had been documented and compensating controls were in place, the organization still needed a permanent modernization that respected the building’s preservation requirements.
03
The security upgrades had to satisfy modern protection and compliance requirements without disregarding historic-preservation constraints. Completing the work required coordination across stakeholders, governing requirements, design decisions, and physical changes to the facility.
04
Nathan coordinated the security requirements, preservation obligations, stakeholders, and physical upgrades needed to carry the project from identified deficiency through implementation. He maintained the path to permanent correction while interim safeguards continued protecting the mission.
05
Patient program leadership connects problem identification, interim risk management, stakeholder coordination, and durable execution. A temporary control can protect the mission, but responsible stewardship requires sustaining the effort until the underlying problem is permanently corrected.
