Building a Waste-to-Energy Destruction Process

The W's of the Story.

01

Drawing on an earlier operational experience with material destruction, Nathan helped replace a burdensome shredding process with a waste-to-energy solution for classified paper. The approach improved destruction capacity while reducing the recurring labor and disposal burden. It reflected a pattern that appears throughout his career: retain lessons from one environment, then adapt them when a later organization faces a related problem.

02

During Nathan's first tour at SUBREADRON 36, the organization relied on a burdensome shredding process to destroy classified paper and manage the resulting waste.

03

The existing approach placed a recurring labor and disposal burden on the organization while limiting destruction capacity. Any alternative still had to satisfy the security requirements governing classified material.

04

Drawing on an earlier operational experience with material destruction, Nathan helped develop a waste-to-energy solution that preserved the required destruction outcome while using a more sustainable and scalable process.

05

Experience becomes more valuable when it can be transferred rather than merely remembered. Sustainable improvement often comes from recognizing the underlying pattern in an earlier solution and adapting it carefully to a new requirement, risk, and environment.
