NATHAN MEEKER / BEHIND THE BUILDER

Different missions. One connecting thread.

From submarine communications to software, my work has been about helping people stay connected—and giving them better tools to do what matters.

Here are a few of the experiences behind the way I build today.

01 / SERVICE

Keeping the connection. Carrying the responsibility.

Over thirty-plus years in the Navy my service took me from the highest heights to the depths of the sea. While I have watched the technology evolve, the responsibility to the people relying on it has not.

Learning to carry the watch.

My time on USS KEY WEST taught me that being a communicator is more than connecting radio signals. You are the connection between the crew, the mission, and the world beyond the boat.

I spent those years operating and maintaining secure communications. The lessons learned taught me to stay curious, accept responsibility and always keep learning.

02 / 03 · SYSTEMS & READINESS

Fixing Systems, building people.

Each year brought new challenges and opportunities. Technological changes often out paced individual training capacity. I found that bringing people together improved outcomes, shortened timelines, and provided more resilient solutions.

It is a lesson I still carry: build teams focused on mission success over personal accomplishment and watch everyone flourish.

03 / 03 · TODAY & BEYOND

Leave everything better.

In these last years of service, I have focused on software development and process automation. Going forward I am using those lessons to assist small businesses, veterans, and non-profits to quickly, easily, and clearly communicate with their customers/audience.

The lesson: automate what you can, time is a finite resource.

02 / CYBER & EDUCATION

Security is a practice.
Learning keeps it moving.

Education gave me frameworks. Operational experience taught me how to use them when people, systems, and real-world constraints meet.

01 / EXPERIENCE · CYBER READINESS

Make the numbers useful.

At Submarine Squadron 4, I expanded an underused cybersecurity scorecard into a tool for prioritizing assistance. The goal was not a prettier dashboard. It was helping leaders see where practical support could make a difference.

A security metric matters when it helps someone make a better decision.

02 / EXPERIENCE · FACILITY & PERSONNEL SECURITY

Security doesn’t start online.

Who you work with, and where you work, shapes your organization’s security posture.

Physical security protects spaces and limits access. Personnel security helps establish trust, manage appropriate access, and reduce insider risk. Strong locks matter, but so do the decisions about who holds the keys.

03 / EDUCATION · SECURITY FOUNDATIONS

Build on a sound foundation.

My background includes CompTIA Security+, alongside years of secure communications and information-system responsibility. I see security as part of operating a useful system—not a separate feature to add at the end.

Protect information. Keep it available to the people who need it. Understand the trade-offs.

04 / EDUCATION · BUSINESS & INNOVATION

Technology needs a purpose.

My MBA in Innovation & Technology Management brings a business perspective to technical decisions. I want to understand the organization, the constraint and the value of solving the problem before choosing how to build.

The question is not only “Can we build it?” It is “Will it help?”

05 / QUALIFICATION · SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Keep learning. Keep building.

The Space Force Supra Coder qualification pathway helped formalize software skills I had developed through operational projects and independent learning. At United States Space Command, that experience connects mission needs with software delivery.

Operational context and hands-on technical understanding are stronger together.

03 / BASE FOUR

Your story is unique. Your foundation can keep growing.

Base Four grew from a simple question: how could I help people tell their stories without making technology another burden?

01 / 03 · START WITH PURPOSE

Understand the people.
Then build the system.

A church website and my own career-story project exposed the same problem: useful technology can be difficult to own, maintain and grow.

Base Four begins with the organization—its story, its audience and the work it needs to do. The technology follows that purpose.

02 / 03 · CONNECT KNOWLEDGE & DESIGN

Tell it once.

Give it room to live.

Your organization’s knowledge should not be trapped inside one page layout. Base Four separates durable information from the way it is presented.

Reusable components and your own branding bring that information into pages. The public assistant helps visitors explore the published knowledge behind them.

03 / 03 · IMPROVE TOGETHER

Launch is a beginning.
Not a time capsule.

I didn’t want yesterday’s websites to miss out on tomorrow’s improvements. A shared platform lets common capabilities evolve while each organization keeps its own identity.

Managed hosting and shared platform maintenance support that foundation. Ongoing design, content, and custom work follow the scope we establish together.
